The government is making efforts to hold the 10th Vibrant Investors Summit in Gujarat, which was postponed in 2021, to January 2022. As many as nine departments of the state, including IndexT-B, Tourism Corporation, Office of the Commissioner of Industries, have started preparations for the summit.

The state has held the Vibrant Summit nine times every two years since 2003. The summit was scheduled to be held last year but the government had started preparations but could not do so due to the epidemic. The summit will now be held in January 2022. If there is no third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Gujarat, the government will decide to hold the summit after seeing the situation.

As part of the summit, the Chief Minister has instructed to hold meetings with industrialists, industries associations, chambers of commerce, and various industry associations to attract investment in Gujarat with contacts with major industrial houses from different states of the country. It is learned that officials from the Industry Department, Industries Commissionerate as well as IndexT-B have been instructed to organize visits, hold dialogues to attract investors, conduct business delegations as well as conduct webinars and seminars for the summit.

Apart from this, as soon as the second wave of Corona subsides, the state government has also started policy decisions and community-oriented works along with many other development works in fast track mode. The summit, which is being held in Gujarat directly for three years after 2019, is likely to launch a campaign to attract more business groups and business delegations from the country and abroad with record investments.

The high official said that Gujarat has been instructed to organize various delegations of ministers as well as high officials to attract non-resident Indian, foreign companies-industry groups as well as foreign delegates based abroad. Software called Integrated Industrial Information System has been developed by IndexT-B and Byseg to provide information on various types of land to industrialists. On the other hand, under Ease of Doing Business, various amendments introduced by DPIIT in the State Reform Action Plan will be implemented. These reforms will relate to 19 different departments of the government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in 2003, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, to attract foreign investors to Gujarat. So far, businessmen and dignitaries from home and abroad have participated in the Vibrant Summit from time to time. These include Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani, Adani Group’s Gautam Adani and Lakshmi Mittal. The then US Secretary of State John Kerry also attended the 2015 Vibrant Summit and addressed investors.
