During the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel addressed industry leaders and stakeholders in the electric vehicle sector, including entrepreneurs and innovators, at the ‘Electric Vehicle Manufacturing – Charging Ahead to 2047’ Seminar. The Chief Minister’s speech at the seminar showcased Gujarat’s commitment to the development and growth of the electric vehicle industry, emphasizing the importance of a robust charging infrastructure for the sector’s success.

Bhupendra Patel said that “the Gujarat government is proactively working to attract investors for electric vehicle manufacturing by encouraging research and development.” The government is also ensuring a robust infrastructure of charging and maintenance to facilitate the growth of the electric vehicle sector. The success of electric vehicles depends on a strong network of charging stations, and Gujarat has made significant investments in the development of the charging infrastructure. The state has attracted substantial investment in the development of charging stations, contributing to the overall success of electric vehicles.

During his address, Bhupendra Patel mentioned that the state government has provided a seamless platform for the establishment of production units in special investment regions like Mandal-Becharaji and Dholera.

This initiative aims to encourage entrepreneurs and industrialists to set up industrial production units in these regions, contributing to the growth of the electric vehicle industry. The seamless platform is designed to simplify the process and provide a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in these special investment regions.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government has designed an Electric Vehicle (EV) policy to create a favourable ecosystem for people to adopt electric vehicles and to promote the overall development of the industry. The government has set the target of preparing an eco-friendly ecosystem for the entire electric vehicle value chain.

Additionally, In the public transportation sector, the government has already adopted electric vehicles, and approximately 500 electric buses are currently operational in public transportation. As a result of the collective efforts made by the state government, there has been a significant growth in the adoption and sales of electric vehicles over the last five years.

The Chief Minister announced that to actualize global green mobility, the automotive industry is also transforming towards green mobility.

The automotive industry is actively participating in the transformation of green mobility by understanding the necessity of manufacturing for green growth. Significant research and development efforts have been undertaken in the country and in Gujarat to make electric vehicles accessible, affordable, and efficient. The focus on research and development is aimed at contributing to the development of electric vehicles that are accessible, affordable, and energy-efficient, aligning with the vision of promoting green mobility in the state and the country.
