The Roads and Buildings Department of the Government of Gujarat has inaugurated 520 multi-storied houses of various levels constructed at a cost of Rs 152 crore at Vastrapur, Memnagar, Bodakdev, and Gulbai Tekra, in Ahmedabad. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, who was here to inaugurate the projects, spoke to the media after the event, in which he talked about the attack on AAP leaders, and also indirectly attacked AAP.

“However,” he said, “we do not promote any such event”.

“But people who in the past have been very naughty and have slapped our leaders, taken off their shoes, made comments, posted messages in vulgar language on social media may be saddened when they are the victims of such acts, I am also saddened.”

“I came to know about the incident through the media,” the deputy chief minister said of the attack on AAP leaders. “According to the information I have received,” the minister added, “any remark made by AAP leader in the past when AAP workers went to Somnath-Veraval for darshan earlier may be insulting. This chapter was completed in Somnath. But when these same people set out on a tour yesterday, the remarks made by Brahm Samaj leaders in the villages of Visavadar again in the past were emotionally dubious.”

On the use of the word ‘goons’ by BJP, Nitin Patel said, “Someone has rallied, someone has waved a black flag and we have seen and suffered a lot in the past.”

“At our meeting and our event, these people or people from another party were waving black flags and rioting and throwing stones at our convoy. If anyone democratically presents his ideas, he should be allowed to do so. I believe that no one on either side will be harmed in this way. We do not encourage the instigator.”

It is worth mentioning that, In Leria village of Visavadar, 50 sarpanches of Visavadar and Bhensan Panth were scheduled to join Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday, but the program had to be canceled due to attacks on AAP leaders. AAP leaders including Isudan Gadhvi, Mahesh Savani, and Praveen Ram reached Leria in the evening and were attacked, injuring a worker named Haresh Savalia. The glass of the car in which Isudan, Mahesh Savani, and Praveen Ram were also shattered. Following the incident, Aam Aadmi Party workers from all over Saurashtra rushed to Visavadar and lodged a police complaint. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that if people like Isudan and Mahesh Savani are attacked in Gujarat, no one is safe in Gujarat.
