In a significant development concerning Rajkot’s gaming zone fire accident, 27 victims have been officially declared dead.
As per the information provided by locals, around 30 children with their parents were trapped inside the TRP game.
However, the fire department arrived at the scene on time and managed to rescue many of them.
According to Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargav, he stated, approximately 20 bodies have been recovered, and are transferred to hospital for further examination.
He has further confirmed that the rescue operations are still underway.
On Saturday, a huge fire broke out at TRP Gamezone in Gujarat’s Rajkot. Thus, resulting billowing up of smoke up to five kilometers away.
According to officials, the fire broke out at the local time of 4:30 PM. Describing that fated incident, Rajkot District Collector Prabhav Joshi revealed, that the temporary structure of gaming zone had also collapsed that time.
Later, describing the scene, locals stated, that after alleged massive explosion at air conditioner unit, the resultant smoke soon engulfed the gaming zone.
As a result, people started fleeing from flames and smoke.
But the cause of the fire has not been confirmed by officials yet. “I cannot confirm the cause of the fire; it requires investigation.” said police commissioner Raju Bhargav.
Rajkot fire officer IV Kher too echoed the same sentiments, saying “The cause of the fire is still unknown. Efforts to extinguish the blaze are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the authorities have declared, that the investigations will proceed accordingly, and they also added, that charges of negligence will be filed against Indvidual named Yuvraj Singh Solanki, as he’s the owner of that gamezone.
Bhargav also added, “The owner and manager of the gaming zone have been brought to the police station for questioning. Further action will be taken following reports from the Fire Department & FSL.”
In the aftermath of the incident, government has also ordered all gaming zones to cease their operations. Also, they ordered for comprehensive inspection of fire safety measures at all these sites.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, tweeted, that he directed the city’s administration to conduct immediate relief and rescue operations at gamezone.
Taking to X, he said,
“Instructions have been given to the Municipal Corporation and the administration for prompt rescue and relief efforts in response to the fire incident at the game zone in Rajkot. Prioritizing the immediate treatment of the injured has been emphasized.”
Further, the government of Gujarat, has announced formation of SIT (Special Investigation Team) to look into the fire tragedy.
As per the sources, three individuals have been reportedly detained in relation to this case.
