Twin brothers Ian and Stuart Paton from the UK have officially claimed the title for the heaviest pumpkin in the world, shattering the previous record with their massive gourd named “Muggle.”
Presented at the 6th Wargrave Nursery Giant Vegetable Weigh-off in Berkshire, UK, on October 6, 2025, the incredible pumpkin weighed in at a staggering 1,278.8 kilograms (2,819 pounds and 4 ounces).
This weight not only secured them the top spot but also marked the first time ever that British growers have held this prestigious world record, confirmed by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.

“Muggle” didn’t just break the weight record; it also claimed the title for the largest pumpkin by circumference. The colossal fruit measured 649.8 centimeters around its middle, which is over 21 feet!
The Paton brothers, who hail from Lymington, Hampshire, have been dedicated growers of giant pumpkins for nearly fifty years, ever since they were teenagers.
Their passion has brought them close to the world title many times before, only to fall short on the scale or be disqualified due to small defects in the fruit.
However, their perseverance finally paid off with this monumental entry. They previously held the all-time UK record in 2022 with a pumpkin weighing 1,205 kilograms, setting the stage for their current global triumph.

How Travis Gienger’s Reign Ended
This new record easily surpasses the previous champion grown by Travis Gienger (USA), which weighed 1,246.9 kilograms (2,749 pounds) and was presented in California in October 2023.
Prior to that, the record was held by Stefano Cutrupi (Italy), whose 1,226-kilogram pumpkin was the first to ever break the 2,700-pound barrier in competition back in 2021.
The brothers’ long-awaited achievement highlights their skill and dedication to the intense and rewarding hobby of giant vegetable growing. They have firmly established the UK as the new home of the world’s heaviest pumpkin.
