Meet Cathie Jung of the US, who has the Guinness world record for the smallest waist. At 1.72 meters or 5 feet 8 inches tall, her waist measures a mere 38.1 centimeters, or 15 inches, when she is wearing her corset. Even without the corset, her waist is an incredibly small 53.34 cm or 21 inches.

At the age of 38, her waist measured the average 66.4 cm (26 in). To fit into the historical clothes she loved, she started a very gradual process of waist reduction. She began with a little training belt that was 15.24 cm (6 in) wide. Over time, she progressed to tighter, smaller corsets.
Since 1983, Cathie has dedicated herself fully to this lifestyle. She wears the corset for 23 hours every day, taking it off only for her short daily shower. This long-term commitment and gradual process are how she got the tiny waist size.

She stresses that she has never had any type of waist-defining or waist-reducing surgery; this is the result of many years of wearing the corset, which is termed tightlacing. Maintaining Size Even though her appearance is highly unusual, Cathie claims not to follow a special diet or a rigorous exercise plan that can keep her waist so slim.
She is a mother of three children and leads a normal life.
