Punjab Governor has summoned the 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha to meet for its 13th (Special) Session on 19 October at 11.00 AM in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Hall, Vidhan Bhavan at Chandigarh. An official spokesperson gave this information on Friday.
Earlier, the Punjab government had decided to convene a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to bring in a legislation to counter the “dangerous anti-farmer” farm laws of the Central government.
The Chief Minister had earlier announced that his government will fight the “anti-federal and vicious” farm laws tooth and nail through legislative, legal and other routes. He had said some days ago that he would call a special session of the Assembly to bring in necessary amendments to the state laws to negate the dangerous impact of the central legislations.
With the Cabinet decision on special assembly session, the Punjab Governor was authorised to convene the 13th (Special) Session of 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha, as per clause (1) of Article 174 of the Constitution of India.
