The Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit, unveiled the Municipal Corporation’s Annual Report-2023 and Swachhata-themed Calendar for 2024 in the presence of city Mayor Anup Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra, Joint Commissioner Gurinder Sodhi, and Chief Engineer N P Sharma.
The Annual Report 2023 highlights exceptional accomplishments and innovations in various municipal domains, showcasing the Corporation’s commitment to efficient solid waste and sewage treatment management, state-of-the-art infrastructure, citizen engagement, and promotion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
MC Chandigarh’s Calendar for 2024 is dedicated to Sustainability, Inclusivity, Empowerment of Communities, and Swachhata, with each month assigned a special theme such as RRR, PRARAMBH- One-stop store for sustainable products, Public Conveniences, Safaimitra’s, Waste to Wonder Park, Horticulture Waste plant, Pink MRF, etc.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit expressed confidence that the report would testify to the dedication and affirmative action taken by the Municipal Corporation. He emphasized the need to go beyond the achievements of 2023 and continue striving for excellence in all municipal sectors.
Mayor Anup Gupta praised the comprehensive account of developmental work in the Annual Report-2023, thanking the citizens for their support in the Swachhata mission and urging continued active participation in 2024.
Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra introduced the Annual Report 2023, documenting the notable achievements in various municipal administration spheres. She highlighted progress in improving municipal infrastructure, water and sanitation, waste management, roads, green spaces, property tax, fire safety, culture, sports, employee welfare, and social security.
Mitra mentioned the recognition received by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh as the best Urban Local Body for Water Resources Management and the best Smart City among Union Territories. She applauded the team for exemplary accomplishments in social innovation, citizen engagement, campaigns for behavioral transformation, community mobilization, and an inclusive approach.
The MC Chandigarh Annual Report-2023 aims to inspire continued progress and citizen participation in creating a sustainable and prosperous Chandigarh.
