Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Banwarilal Purohit, inaugurated the Attendant Hall, Scholar Hall, Park, and Lift at Lajpat Rai Bhawan, Sector 15-B, Chandigarh, on the 158th birth anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. Former Members of Parliament, Satpal Jain, and Pavan Kumar Bansal were present at the event.
The newly inaugurated Attendant Hall is designed to provide accommodations for attendants accompanying patients at PGI, while the Scholar Hall will cater to the needs of PhD scholars requiring a dedicated space for study and stay. Additionally, the park inaugurated during the event will serve as a recreational space for children and a yoga center.
During the ceremony, Governor Purohit paid homage to Lala Lajpat Rai, acknowledging his invaluable contribution to India’s independence struggle. He urged the public to unite against corruption in civil society. Purohit praised the role of the Servants of People Society in fostering a progressive India and pledged support to the organization.
Highlighting Lala Lajpat Rai’s connection to Punjab, Purohit referred to him as ‘Shere-e-Punjab’ and ‘Punjab Kesari.’ He emphasised the simplicity and dedication to the freedom cause exhibited by Lala Lajpat Rai and the trio of Lal,Bal and Pal, inspiring millions to lead a principled life and fight for the nation’s freedom. Purohit also commended the Lok Sewak Mandal (Servants of People Society) for its 104 years of dedicated service to humanity. D.R. Bhatti, Vice-Chairman of Chandigarh center, extended a vote of thanks during the event.
