Gopal Kanda, the Haryana Lokhit Party candidate contesting from the Sirsa Assembly seat, expressed strong confidence in his chances of winning the election, stating that the people are “giving their blessings.” After casting his vote, Kanda told, “The mood of the people here is one-sided; they are showing overwhelming support. There is no contest in this election.”
Kanda predicted a third consecutive term for the BJP in Haryana, asserting, “Sirsa has a one-sided atmosphere. This is a religious city, and everyone is connected to some religious institution. There are no significant farmers’ issues here. The Congress party has insulted farmers by offering them checks of just two rupees. No one has respected farmers as much as Modi ji has in this country. Our aim is to create a Congress-free Haryana, and we will definitely form the government again, starting from Sirsa.”
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda also voiced optimism, claiming that Congress would secure a substantial majority. “The high command will decide who will become the Chief Minister. Our government will focus on unemployment, law and order, and the state’s development,” he said, urging voters to participate peacefully.
As voting began for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana, the Election Commission reported a turnout of 22.70% by 11 AM. Palwal recorded the highest turnout at 27.94%, followed by Jind at 27.20%, and Mewat at 25.65%. In other regions, Rohatak had a turnout of 12.71%, Bhiwani 23.45%, and Faridabad 20.39%.
Manish Kumar Lohan, the nodal officer for the Haryana Election Commission, noted, “More than 25% voter turnout has been recorded, with districts like Yamunanagar, Kaithal, and Bhiwani showing over 20%. This is an encouraging trend, and I am confident we will achieve a good overall turnout. Our efforts to engage new and young voters through awareness programs are making a difference.”
As the day progresses, all eyes are on the voter turnout and the impact it will have on the election results.
