Google is reportedly testing a new feature for the Play Store that could automatically launch newly installed apps. The feature, named ‘App Auto Open,’ would display a notification banner across the top of the screen when activated. This notification would ring or vibrate the device based on its settings, with users having the option to silence it. The notification is expected to last up to five seconds.
While the functionality is said to be enabled by default, users would be able to toggle it on or off. However, despite enabling the flag, the feature is currently not operational.
It remains unclear when or if the App Auto Open feature will be widely available. Nonetheless, it could be beneficial for users who often forget to manually launch new apps after installation.
In recent months, Google has introduced several new features to the Play Store, including the ability to ask someone else to pay for an item, download two apps simultaneously, and update apps using a limited amount of mobile data.
