Google Maps is rolling out several new features for its users in India, designed to improve navigation and convenience. Starting this week, Android users will benefit from a highly anticipated feature that will now alert drivers about upcoming flyovers. This addition aims to help users make timely lane changes and avoid taking the wrong route.

The feature, which will be available in over 40 cities, will provide notifications as drivers approach a flyover, allowing them to prepare for it in advance. This functionality, previously offered by Mappls by MapMyIndia, is now being integrated into Google Maps.

In addition to the flyover alerts, Google Maps is expanding its support for electric vehicles (EVs). Users will now have access to information about over 8,000 charging stations, including details about plug types and real-time availability.

Google is collaborating with Ather, Kazam, Statiq, and ElectricPe to enhance its EV network. Notably, this update includes a first-of-its-kind feature supporting electric two-wheeler charging stations in India, with plans for future expansion.

Google Maps is also introducing a new feature to simplify reporting road closures, accidents, and other issues. Users can now report such incidents with a few taps, and validate reports from others to increase accuracy. This update is aimed at improving the reliability of road condition information on the platform.

Furthermore, Maps will now alert drivers about narrow roads during their journey. Using AI technology from satellite imagery and street view, Google Maps will help drivers identify and avoid roads that may be challenging to navigate.

Overall, these updates are set to enhance the driving experience for users in India, making navigation more efficient and tailored to modern needs.
