Indian golfer Diksha Dagar, scheduled to compete in the Paris Olympics starting August 7, was recently involved in a car accident in the French capital but emerged unscathed. Despite the incident, she will continue her preparations and compete as planned.

Details of the Accident

Diksha and her family were in a car that met with an accident on the night of July 30-31 near a traffic signal in Paris. They were returning from a function at the India House when another vehicle hit their car. Diksha was accompanied by her father and caddie, Col Naren Dagar, her mother, and her brother.

Col Dagar confirmed that Diksha is fine and will play in the event as scheduled. However, Diksha’s mother sustained a suspected spinal injury and has been hospitalized for further tests and treatment. Her condition will be monitored over the next few days.

Support from the Indian Golf Union

The Indian Golf Union (IGU) is in touch with the Dagar family following the accident. IGU President Brijinder Singh expressed relief that Diksha and her family are safe and reiterated the Union’s support for them. He said, “Diksha’s mother has suffered stress in her spine due to the impact and is under medical supervision. We are in continuous touch with the family and will provide support as needed.”

Singh also expressed confidence in Diksha’s abilities, stating, “I am happy that a talent like Diksha will be representing the country for the second time in the Olympics. We wish her good luck for a memorable performance.”

Upcoming Olympics Competition

This will be Diksha Dagar’s second Olympic Games. The women’s golf competition will take place from August 7 to August 10. Diksha previously competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, becoming the first golfer to participate in both the Olympics and the Deaflympics.

Meanwhile, the men’s competition featuring Indian golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar has already started.
