EverPaid ₹1 Lakh for a Cup of Masala Chai? Most of us would likely take a step back at the very suggestion, but Dubai’s Boho Cafe has gone ahead and done it with their outrageous Gold Karak tea. It’s a luxurious drink served in pure silver teacups with 24-carat gold leaf.
Boho Cafe, an Indian-origin entrepreneur Sucheta Sharma’s venture, has suddenly become one of the most sough-after cafes since it opened the doors at the DIFC’s Emirates Financial Towers. The menu will feature affordable Indian street food like grilled cheese sandwiches as well as luxurious items, such as gold-dusted croissants and edible-gold-infused tea.

The Gold Karak tea sets back by AED 5,000, or around ₹1.1 lakh. Along with the tea, the customer is presented with a gold-dusted croissant and silverware to be taken home as souvenirs. For a less pricey version, the cafe has the scaled-down gold tea without the use of silver cups, priced at AED 150, or around ₹3,500.
Other luxuriant items on the menu include gold-infused water, a gold burger with vegetarian and paneer options, and gold ice cream are for all those who want some weird kind of experience.
Social media has seen much debate over the pricey opportunities. Some see it as an “interesting experience” and have applauded the idea, while others view this extravagance as unnecessary. An Instagram user lightly joked, “Do I need to declare this to customs after I drink it?”
Sharma shared the vision behind dual menus thus, “We wanted to make something extraordinary for those people seeking indulgence and at the same time catering for the masses.”
A very indulgent affair or a quirky social media post, Boho Cafe’s Gold Karak tea is continuing to make headlines and divide opinions.
