Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant voiced assurance that the BJP will secure victory in both the North Goa and South Goa seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Pramod Sawant said, “I am fully confident that Goa BJP will win both seats, North Goa and South Goa this time. With the kind enthusiasm that is there among the workers, we will win both seats 100 percent. I thank PM Modi because he has given reservation to women this time too (in their candidature).”

As per the timetable, Goa is slated to cast its votes in a single phase on May 7 for its two Lok Sabha constituencies.

The coastal state comprises two Lok Sabha constituencies: North Goa and South Goa.
In its initial list of 195 candidates, the BJP nominated Shripad Yesso Naik to contest from North Goa.

Pallavi Dempo, the executive director of Dempo Industries, has made history as the first woman candidate in BJP’s electoral history in Goa. She will contest the Lok Sabha elections on the party ticket from South Goa.

The BJP has won this constituency only twice since 1962.

During the 2019 general elections, the BJP candidate Shripad Yesso Naik emerged victorious in the North Goa seat, whereas the South Goa seat was secured by Congress candidate Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be conducted over seven phases, commencing on April 19 and concluding on June 1. The results are scheduled to be announced on June 4.
