Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Crosses ₹100 Crore in Just Two Days

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has emerged as Bollywood’s first clean hit of 2025. The historical action film quickly crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide in just two days. On Saturday, its earnings increased slightly, pushing the global total to ₹100 crore. Consequently, the film is now one of the year’s biggest openers.

Box Office Performance

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava earned ₹68 crore net (₹81.60 crore gross) in India within two days. Additionally, it collected over $2 million (₹18-19 crore) in overseas markets. As a result, Chhaava became the second Hindi film of 2025 to cross ₹100 crore, following Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force. Given its strong momentum, the film is likely to surpass Sky Force in the coming days.

Exceptional Response in Maharashtra

The film has performed exceptionally well in Maharashtra, largely due to its subject. Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava narrates the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Shivaji, and his battles against Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Since Sambhaji is a revered figure in Maharashtra, the film has attracted a massive audience. Notably, most theatres in the state are witnessing over 70% occupancy. In Pune, night shows have even reached 97% occupancy.

Consequently, theatres in Mumbai and Pune have introduced midnight screenings. Furthermore, some cinemas in smaller towns have added 6 AM and 1 AM shows to meet the high demand, according to exhibitors.

About the Film

Chhaava features Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb. Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna and Divya Dutta play key roles. Although critics have given mixed reviews, they have praised the performances. However, some have pointed out issues with the film’s pacing.
