Upcoming Theatrical Releases in September: Horror, Action, Comedy & More Await

September is just around the corner, and as always, a new month comes with a fresh set of upcoming theatrical releases. So, here's a list of five upcoming movies to watch in theatres.

The month of August brought entertaining releases such as the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer War 2, Rajinikanth’s Coolie, among others, which captivated audiences and performed well at the box office. The month came to an end with the release of the Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Param Sundari. Now, with September just around the corner, here’s a list of five upcoming theatrical releases in September that might be worth the wait.

Upcoming Theatrical Releases in September

1. The Bengal Files

Kicking off September is Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial venture, The Bengal Files. Concluding his The Files Trilogy, this movie explores Bengal during the 1940s. Its story centres around the Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots that occurred in the lead-up to the partition of India. The Bengal Files stars Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Simrat Kaur, Mithun Chakraborty, and Anupam Kher in prominent roles. The Bengal Files is slated for a theatrical release on 05th September.

2. The Conjuring: Last Rites

Next in the list of upcoming theatrical releases in September is The Conjuring: Last Rites, the ninth and final instalment in The Conjuring series. Directed by Michael Chaves and starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the lead roles as paranormal investigators. The story follows their characters as they set out to face their final demon. The movie is written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and is based on Smurl haunting of Pennsylvania, U.S. The Conjuring: Last Rites is slated for a theatrical release on 05th September.

3. Mirai

Teja Sajja also makes his return to theatres in September with the release of the action-adventure movie Mirai. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni and written by him alongside Manibabu Karanam, this movie stars Sajja as Super Yodha, a warrior tasked with protecting nine sacred scriptures from the grips of the Black Sword, a group led by Mahaveer Rana (Manchu Manoj). It also stars Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram alongside Sajja and Manoj. Mirai is slated for release on 12th September.

4. Ek Chatur Naar

Next up in the list of releases is the Umesh Shukla directorial venture Ek Chatur Naar, a black comedy written by Himanshu Tripathi. Starring Divya Khosla Kumar and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead roles, the movie centres around Khosla’s character, a cunning woman who hides her true nature behind an innocent face. Its story follows the journey of her character as she navigates a road full of twists and turns, all in the hope of making a big bag. Ek Chatur Naar is slated for a theatrical release on 12th September.

5. Jolly LLB 3

Next up is the third instalment in the Jolly LLB movie series, Jolly LLB 3. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, the legal drama stars Akshay Kumar and marks the return of Arshad Warsi in the lead role. The movie also stars Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao, Huma Qureshi and Annu Kapoor in key roles. Its story centres around a hilarious back-and-forth between Jolly Tyagi (Arshad Warsi) and Jolly Mishra(Akshay Kumar) as they aim to come out victorious in the legal face-off.

These were all the major theatrical releases of September to look forward to. From action to comedy, this month has it all.
