Another week has kicked off with a fresh set of theatrical releases for moviegoers. With September already packed with promising titles, here’s a look at upcoming movies to watch in theatres this week.
Upcoming Theatrical Releases (01-07th September)
This week is especially a treat for all the thrill seekers as the first Friday of September brings everything from Hollywood horror movies, ‘A’ rated action thrillers, to intense political dramas. Check the following list to plan your trip to the theatres this week.
1. The Conjuring: Last Rites
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the ninth and final instalment in the fan favourite Conjuring movie series. Based on the Smurl hauntings, this supernatural horror movie is directed by Michael Chaves, who also directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Nun II. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as the film’s principal characters, Ed and Lorraine Warren. It also stars Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy as Judy Warren and Tony Spera, respectively. The movie follows Ed and Lorraine as they set out to best a demon from a family’s home. The Conjuring: Last Rites is slated for release on 05th September.

2. Baaghi 4
Baaghi 4 marks the maker’s return to the Baaghi movie franchise in five years. Written by Sajid Nadiadwala with A. Harsha in charge of bringing the movie to life, Baaghi 4 is a bloodier twist in the action series. The movie stars Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, with Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu making her Hindi film debut. The movie is marketed as “The bloodiest love story of the year”, with its story revolving around Ronny (Tiger Shroff) trying to uncover the mystery behind his girlfriend’s demise. Sanjay Dutt portrays the negative lead in the movie, with its events leading up to their inevitable face-off. Baaghi 4 is slated for release on 05th September.

3. The Bengal Files
The Bengal Files is Vivek Agnihotri’s third and final instalment in his The Files trilogy. The movie features an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Simrat Kaur and Anupam Kher. The film is set in 1940s India and centres around the Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots. Also part of the cast are Saswata Chatterjee, Namashi Chakraborty, Rajesh Khera, Puneet Issar, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Dibyendu Bhattacharya, among others. The Bengal Files is slated for release on 05th September 2025.
These were all the major releases for the first week of September. Although limited, this week’s releases are promising, with each movie offering fans a different theatrical experience. From the signature supernatural horror style of Conjuring to Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama, September is off to a promising start.
