The dispute over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000-crore estate has taken a dramatic turn. Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have filed a civil lawsuit in Delhi High Court. They alleged that their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, attempted to forge their father’s will. The case has now brought multiple parties into conflict, including Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, who has entered the legal battle with her own stand but while Karisma’s side seeks a share in the massive inheritance, Priya Sachdev has pushed back strongly, claiming the allegations are not sustainable in court.
Will or No Will? The Core of the Fight
Senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar appeared on behalf of Rani Kapur. He said the real fight lies between Karisma Kapoor and Priya Sachdev over the question of whether Sunjay left a will. He clarified that while Rani Kapur is impacted as a class 1 heir, she will respond formally through the court process. Gaggar added that she has been named defendant number three in the case, but her position remains consistent with her past stand.

Karisma’s Children Move Court
On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court heard the plea filed by Samaira and Kiaan. The siblings demanded their rightful share in their late father’s estate, which is estimated at about ₹30,000 crore. Their legal team argued that Priya Sachdev manipulated facts regarding Sunjay’s will and the lawsuit has now added another chapter to the already complex Kapur family legacy.
Priya Sachdev Counters the Allegations
Senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, rejected the claims made by Karisma’s children. He argued that the suit was not maintainable, stressing that the plaintiffs were already trust beneficiaries. He revealed that they had received ₹1,900 crore just days before filing the case. Nayar emphasized that Priya is not depriving anyone of wealth. He said, “It’s not as if these people are left on the streets. I am a widow with a six-year-old child. For 15 years, they were nowhere to be seen.”
A Family Entangled in Legal and Personal History
Priya Sachdev is Sunjay Kapur’s third wife. The two married in 2017, while Sunjay’s marriage with Karisma Kapoor lasted from 2003 to 2016. Karisma and Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, were born in 2005 and 2011. Now, their inheritance claim has reignited tensions between the two families.
