Kantara Chapter 1 OTT Release Date: Rishabh Shetty's 800 Crore Blockbuster to Stream on THIS Date
After a blockbuster theatrical run, Rishabh Shetty's Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is coming to OTT. The movie is going to stream on Amazon Prime Video after running for 25 days of its theatrical release.
Rishabh Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 is still going strong in theatres, earning an estimated total exceeding ₹800 crore worldwide. After spending three weeks at the theatres, the movie will now be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting October 31.
The Rishabh Shetty starrer Kantara A Legend Chapter 1 will be added to the streaming library of Amazon Prime Video, just four weekends at the theatres. This is a rather quick streaming release for a movie of this scale.
The movie will be available for viewing in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam. As of now, the Kantra Chapter 1 Hindi dub does not have an OTT release date. The reasoning for the absence is unknown, with Hindi-speaking viewers voicing their dissatisfaction online.
The prequel to the 2022 hit mythological thriller opened to ₹61.85 crore with the following few days adding ₹45.4 crore, ₹55 crore and ₹63 to its total, respectively. The movie ended its first weekend at theatres with a total box office collection of ₹337.4 crore.
Second & Third weeks were also a great showing for the movie as it added ₹147.85 and ₹78.85 crore respectively.
In 24 days, the movie earned ₹579.20 Cr in the domestic market, with its worldwide total exceeding ₹800 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. As of October 2025, it is the highest-grossing movie of 2025.
Kantara Chapter 1 is the prequel story of the 2022 hit mythological thriller. It explores the backstory of the mythological elements and the rivalries shown in the first movie. The movie is made on a ₹125 crore budget, a significant step up from the ₹16 crore budget of the original.
