Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne’s final chapter was being filmed for a documentary before his passing. The 76-year-old former Black Sabbath frontman died earlier this week after battling Parkinson’s disease for several years. His son, Jack Osbourne, revealed that Ozzy and wife Sharon had been filming a docuseries titled Home To Roost, which focused on their return to the UK after living in the United States for two decades.

In an interview with Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine, Jack—who spoke before his father’s death—shared that Ozzy had completed writing a memoir titled Last Rites, expected to be published later this year. Jack, 39, also spoke about his role as co-producer of an upcoming biopic based on Ozzy’s life.

He said, “Right now it’ll take place over the Sabbath era and early 1980s. We’re definitely going for a more adult rating for the film. This is by no means going to be a fluff piece. Right now we’re going through a rewrite with Craig Borten, who wrote Dallas Buyers Club.”

Family Confirms Ozzy’s Death

Ozzy’s family released an official statement confirming his passing. It read, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family’s privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Later reports confirmed that the rock icon passed away at his home in Buckinghamshire, UK. His loved ones, including children Aimee (41), Kelly (40), and Jack, had flown in from the United States to be by his side.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

A source close to the family told MailOnline that Ozzy’s death came sooner than expected. The insider said Aimee and Kelly had travelled from Los Angeles, while Jack arrived from Idaho to see Ozzy perform his final Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham on July 5.

The source added, “Ozzy was always meant to come back to Britain to live in Buckinghamshire, it was where Sharon had spent so long preparing their family home for him. There was much hope that he would be around for a lot longer than this, but at one point, there were fears they would not get him back from Los Angeles for the concert earlier this month.”

They also said, “Kelly has been at the house a lot in the last week or so, and so has Aimee. It is terribly sad for all of them; they really hoped he would be able to carry on for a bit longer. But it’s so lovely that he had his children around him during his last days.”
