Paris Jackson speaks out against the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, calling it “sugar-coated” and claiming she had no involvement.
Paris Jackson has denounced the coming biopic Michael, claiming she played no part in its making and describing it as "sugar-coated," expanding on her general criticism of Hollywood's biopic phenomenon.
Her comments followed closely after actor Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson in the film, intimated Paris and her brother Prince were "very much in support" of the project. In a Venice Film Festival interview, Domingo commended Paris, describing her as "lovely and warm," and suggesting she was cooperative with the production.
But Paris soon set the record straight on Instagram. "Don't be telling people I was 'helpful' on the set of a movie I had zero per cent involvement in lol that is so weird," she wrote. The 27-year-old went on to add that she did once read an early draft script and provided feedback but left when her concerns were not noticed.
Paris continued in Instagram stories, explaining that she was informed her observations would not be taken into account. "So I just butted out and left it alone because it's not my project," she replied. She admitted the movie appeals to a part of her father's fan base holding onto a fantasy view of him. "They're gonna be happy with it," she conceded, although she noted the story was riddled with inaccuracies and "full-blown lies."
The story is being manipulated… and that doesn't fly very well with me," she stated, before encouraging fans to watch the movie if they wanted but to "leave me out of it."

The biopic, which was made in collaboration with the Jackson estate, has been in progress since 2019. There were earlier reports of production holdups and rewrites attributed to legally contentious storylines, although insiders rebuffed allegations of chaos.
Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, will portray the pop star in his feature film debut, joined by Miles Teller, Nia Long, and Kat Graham. Michael will hit theaters on April 24, 2026.
Even with the estate on board and an A-list cast, Paris's disapproval highlights ongoing questions about whether Hollywood biopics can really capture the intricate lives of the subjects they play.
