Legendary rock icon Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the age of 76, prompting heartfelt tributes from across the music world. Among them, musician Marilyn Manson, who had a close bond with Osbourne, shared a deeply personal message after attending his funeral.
Manson’s Emotional Farewell to a Friend
Manson, 56, took to social media to honor Osbourne after his private burial ceremony on Thursday near a lake at his home in Buckinghamshire. In his Instagram Story, Manson wrote, “Today we laid to rest a beloved friend. I am eternally grateful that you let me into your life Ozzy. Your inspiration and love will always be with me.”
He also expressed gratitude to Osbourne’s family, adding, “Thank you Sharon and family for a reverent and beautiful ceremony. Your legacy lives on.” Manson posted the same message on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

A Star-Studded Final Goodbye
On July 30, over 100 guests—comprising close family and legendary music personalities—attended Osbourne’s funeral. Notable attendees included his wife Sharon and children Kelly, Jack, Aimee, and Louis, along with his Black Sabbath bandmates: Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward. Music stars like Elton John, James Hetfield (Metallica), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), and Rob Zombie were also present, according to the New York Post.
A source close to the family said, “Everyone at the service wanted to help Sharon and the children. It has been an awful time.” They added, “It was a very fitting goodbye—toasts were raised, memories were shared.” The event also included a planned tribute by Yungblud, who had developed a close friendship with Osbourne in recent years.
A Funeral Reflecting Ozzy’s Style
The private ceremony was held at Osbourne’s own residence, just as he had wished. Guests wore gothic and heavy metal-inspired attire, staying true to Ozzy’s iconic style. He was buried beside a peaceful lake on his property.
A day before the funeral, fans and local musicians gathered to honor him. A brass band played “Iron Man” in Birmingham, and fans assembled near famous locations like the Black Sabbath Bridge on Broad Street to remember the legendary rocker.
Manson and Ozzy: A Long History of Respect
Marilyn Manson had been a long-time admirer and friend of Osbourne. In 2002, he attended the ceremony when Black Sabbath received their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2006, the two shared the stage as presenters at the Scream Awards on Spike TV. Manson also made a cameo during Black Sabbath’s farewell show on July 5, during their performance of “Back to the Beginning.”
