Hollywood superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has officially confirmed that filming for Jumanji 3 has started. The actor shared the exciting news with fans on Instagram, posting photos from the first table read with the cast in Los Angeles. The third and final instalment of the Jumanji franchise is set to hit theatres on December 11, 2026.

“Officially kicking off production of JUMANJI at our cast table read in Los Angeles – where we will film as well. What a massive, fun, heartfelt adventure,” wrote Johnson.

Jumanji 3 Release Date

The much-awaited third instalment of the Jumanji reboot franchise is set to hit theatres on December 11, 2026 — just in time for the Christmas season. Fans can expect a blend of adventure, comedy, and nostalgia as the series comes to a close.

Emotional End of a Beloved Franchise

Dwayne Johnson shared that Jumanji 3 will mark the conclusion of the modern series, calling it a special and emotional moment for the entire team.

He said, “Feels emotionally appropriate for our beloved JUMANJI franchise to end on this beautiful grace note of our final film. Amazing to get the whole gang back together, and our jaws were hurting from laughing so hard. We all talked about how much we’ve missed this kinda joy and fun. Let’s make a good one.”

The actor’s words struck a chord with fans who have followed the franchise since its 2017 revival, blending adventure, comedy, and nostalgia.

Jumanji 3: Original Cast & Director Return

The film brings back the entire core cast — Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Dwayne Johnson — all reprising their iconic roles. Director Jake Kasdan is once again leading the project, with Matt Tolmach, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Kasdan producing.

Reports also suggest that Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blaine, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman, Awkwafina, and Burn Gorman will appear in the film. Unlike the previous two movies, which were filmed in Hawaii and Atlanta, Jumanji 3 is being shot primarily in Los Angeles.

Jumanji 3: A Tribute to Robin Williams

In a touching gesture, Dwayne Johnson revealed that his character, Dr Smolder Bravestone, will wear a special necklace in the film. “It’s the dice from the original 1995 JUMANJI and a way of paying homage, love, and respect to the great Robin Williams,” he said.

This tribute connects the final chapter to the original 1995 Jumanji, which starred Robin Williams and introduced audiences to the magical, chaotic board game that became a cultural phenomenon.

Jumanji: Journey Through the Years

The Jumanji story began with Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 picture book. The 1995 movie adaptation became an instant classic, leading Sony Pictures to reboot the franchise with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).

The first reboot earned $962.5 million worldwide, while its sequel brought in $800 million. With Jumanji 3, Sony aims to close the series on a grand, heartfelt note.

Fitting Farewell to a Pop-Culture Adventure

The announcement of Jumanji 3 not only signals the return of a fan-favourite cast but also marks the end of an era for adventure comedies. In a world dominated by superhero franchises, Jumanji stands out for its mix of humour, heart, and nostalgia.

As Johnson and his co-stars reunite for one last quest, fans can expect a film that celebrates friendship, laughter, and the enduring legacy of a game that brought generations together. Jumanji 3 is set to release in theatres worldwide on Christmas 2026.
