Isabela Ferrer’s career took a promising turn when she landed her first major role in It Ends With Us. She portrayed Young Lily, the younger version of Blake Lively’s lead character. This casting gave her visibility in a high-profile film and positioned her as a rising talent in Hollywood. The film’s success was expected to boost her career, but her involvement quickly became overshadowed by legal battles tied to the production.
Legal Trouble After Debut
Not long after her debut, Ferrer unexpectedly found herself pulled into a heated legal dispute between Blake Lively and director Justin Baldoni. Both sides issued subpoenas to her, requiring her to provide communications and evidence that could play a role in the case. What should have been a celebratory moment in her career turned stressful, as she became entangled in a battle that had nothing to do with her performance.
Allegations Against Baldoni
The conflict centers on Blake Lively’s accusations of sexual harassment against Baldoni. Lively has alleged that when she raised complaints, Baldoni retaliated with a hidden campaign to tarnish her reputation. Her lawsuit also points to a controversial scene he allegedly added, in which Young Lily loses her virginity. After the scene was filmed, she claims Baldoni made an inappropriate remark to the young actors, saying, “I know I’m not supposed to say this, but that was hot.” These allegations have become a central part of the case and dragged Ferrer further into the controversy, since she was the actor portraying Young Lily.
Baldoni’s Defense
Baldoni’s lawyers have pushed back, painting a different picture of his behavior. They released text messages reportedly sent by Ferrer, where she described him as a “great director” and “wonderful to work with.” They argue that Ferrer had no issues with him until the professional rivalry between Baldoni and Lively deepened during the film’s promotion. According to his team, Ferrer’s later distance from him was a response to the escalating feud, not his personal conduct.
Subpoena and Financial Strain
In February, Blake Lively’s legal team subpoenaed Ferrer, demanding she hand over any messages or documents that could be relevant. This forced the young actor to secure legal representation of her own, adding financial and emotional pressure to her rising career. Since Baldoni and his team were her employers on the film, Ferrer requested they cover her legal costs. However, that opened a new round of disputes about the conditions attached to such financial support.
Dispute Over Legal Control
Ferrer’s attorney, Sanford Michelman, accused Baldoni of trying to use money as leverage over her legal decisions. According to him, Baldoni’s team wanted influence over how Ferrer responded to the subpoena or even control over her choice of lawyer. Michelman also revealed that Baldoni’s team cited a non-existent legal case, which he believes was the result of an AI-generated error, to justify their position. He argued this showed how far Baldoni’s camp was willing to stretch facts in order to maintain power over Ferrer’s response.
Ongoing Court Filing
The legal wrangling has continued to grow. While talks about legal coverage were underway, Baldoni’s lawyers asked Michelman to accept a subpoena on Ferrer’s behalf, but he refused, saying it wasn’t in her best interest. Baldoni’s team now wants her to hand over documents and private messages related to the case. In her most recent filing, Ferrer requested the court to “deny the Motion in its entirety and impose appropriate sanctions against Baldoni,” signaling that she is fighting to protect herself from what she and her lawyer describe as harassment and manipulation.
