Disney has announced the title and release date of the sixth Ice Age movie, Ice Age: Boiling Point. The announcement was made at the Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney event in Orlando on Saturday. The movie is set to hit theatres on February 5, 2027, reports Variety.
What to Expect from the Film
The official summary suggests that Boiling Point is a ‘dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure that whisks Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd off to witness unseen parts of the perilous Lost World.’
Disney and 20th Century Animation have officially announced that the series’ original voice stars, Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg will be reprising their roles for this film.
A Look Back at the Franchise
The final movie in the franchise, Ice Age: Collision Course, came out in 2016 and grossed $408.5 million worldwide. The series started with the initial Ice Age film in 2002 and has continued on to four primary sequels, a spin-off, and a couple of shorts found on Disney+.
Together, the Ice Age movies have earned over $3.2 billion worldwide, qualifying as one of the biggest animation franchises.
Other Disney Announcements at D23
Throughout the presentation, Disney also provided news on future projects. Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush brought forth Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new original feature film, Hexed, and its release.

The film is directed by Josie Trinidad and Jason Hand, produced by Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lanchester-Jones. It tracks a magical journey. The official logline presents it as: “An awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom find that what makes him different just may be magical powers that will flip their lives and a hidden world of magic on its head.”
Disney also teased some of its most-awaited titles, such as Toy Story 5, Tron: Ares, and Zootopia 2.
