Following its history-making performance during the 82nd annual Venice International Film Festival by receiving the longest standing ovation, Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is ready to make its North American debut during the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. From Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein, the science fiction horror movie is the tale of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist whose laboratory experiment gives birth to a monster that leads to the demise of both the creator and the created.
Guillermo del Toro's on-screen adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel has an ensemble cast of such skilled actors, featuring:
Oscar Issac portrays the role of Victor Frankenstein, the egotistical scientist whose ambition gives birth to the monster. Isaac brings seriousness to Victor, portraying a man both visionary and tragic.
Jacob Elordi takes the role of The Creature, who is the product of Victor Frankenstein's ambition. His presence and performance add weight to the emotional and mysterious nature of his character.
Goth has Victor's fiancée, Elizabeth, in a haunting mix of vulnerability and power. She is the symbol of the emotional toll of Victor's fixations, love trapped in the shadow of ambition.
Waltz plays Harlander, an affluent and manipulative character whose influence complicates Victor's moral and fiscal decisions, in a part especially written for Guillermo del Toro's take on the Mary Shelley novel.
