According to TMZ, Dreka Gates officially filed for divorce from Kevin Gates on Wednesday, July 30, ending their nine-year marriage. The filing cites “irreconcilable differences” as the primary reason for the split. The couple, who married in 2015, share two children — Islah (12) and Khaza (11).
Dreka is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children. Additionally, she has asked for spousal support while also requesting that the court terminate Kevin’s eligibility for spousal support. It remains unclear whether the couple signed a prenuptial agreement.
Kevin Gates’ 52-Day Marriage to Brittany Renner Raises Eyebrows
The divorce filing follows reports of Kevin Gates’ brief union with influencer Brittany Renner earlier this year. Renner revealed in an interview with REAL 92.3 LA that the two married on April 6 and divorced on May 28, a marriage that lasted just 52 days.
“I don’t feel like it’s a sucky situation because what is meant to be is always going to be,” Renner said. “I followed my heart… and when you do that, you get all the clarity you need.”
Renner, who embraced Islam like Gates did in 2016, previously referred to him as her husband and praised the religion’s impact on her life. “Islam has made my life better in every single category. And like my husband says, the closer you get to God, the more you get,” she noted.
Dreka Addresses Rumors Amid Separation
Earlier this year, Dreka publicly denied rumors alleging she cheated on Gates with her female personal trainer. In a social media post, she stated, “I have NEVER had any type of sexual or romantic encounters with my personal trainer or any ‘hired help’ and will NEVER… I am strictly ]eggplant emoji] and I do not do plastic.”
Her direct tone put speculation to rest as the couple’s private issues became increasingly public.
