Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale features a cast of well-known actors who are well-loved for their characters in the show, as well as newer additions.
Bonneville returns to the role of Downton patriarch. Throughout the movie series, Robert has had to contend with the issues that arise in keeping the house going as the world around them changes. In this final instalment, his character remains central to family heritage, showing the change in generations and the duty that comes with tradition.

McGovern reprises the role of Cora, who has frequently served as a bridge between the cultural divide of her American heritage and the English nobility. With her brother Harold Levinson more central to the action this time, Cora's story introduces a transatlantic element to the show.
Dockery's Mary is at the heart of everything. In The Grand Finale, Mary finds herself in the middle of a scandal after leaving Henry Talbot. As in previous episodes, Dockery applies poise and restraint to an indecisive character between obligation and freedom.
Carmichael's Edith, who is usually regarded as the forgotten Crawley daughter, is now comfortably established in her position as Marchioness. Her journey, from adversity to contentment, comes full circle here with an exhibition of toughness and drive amidst shifting societal frameworks.
Leech reprises his role as Tom Branson, the ex-chauffeur who was adopted by the Crawley family. It is a tale of class mobility and reconciling social differences, familiar motifs since the series began.
The film also includes Paul Giamatti (Harold Levinson), Dominic West (Guy Dexter), Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.
