What started out as an evening of music and happiness at a Coldplay concert became a reputational disaster for data company Astronomer when a clip of CEO Andy Byron and HR manager Kristin Cabot went viral.

The pair were seen showing public affection before the concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston, then later got caught on the kiss cam.

In the video, Byron and Cabot were caught being intimate and later attempting to cover their faces as the camera focused on them. Their embarrassed reaction led Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin to remark on stage, “I hope we didn’t do something bad.” He then made a comment that seemed to affirm the closeness of the duo: “Either they are having an affair or they are very shy.”

Take a look:

The incident drew attention online not only because of the kiss cam incident, but also because of the off-field lives of the people involved. Andy Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, with the couple residing in New York, according to reports.

Kristin Cabot, on the other hand, is reportedly married to Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum. As per the New York Post, Kristin Cabot and Andrew Cabot recently purchased a home in Rye, New Hampshire, fueling rumors of an extramarital affair.

As the footage gained attention and speculation grew, Astronomer released a formal statement affirming its stance on leadership and conduct. “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.”

The company further stated that an in-house probe had been initiated: “The Board of Directors has opened a formal investigation into this issue and we will have further information to give shortly.”

Throwing more light into the public narrative, the company posted on LinkedIn that: “Alyssa Stoddard was not present at the event and no other staff member was featured in the video. Andy Byron has not released any statement; reports stating otherwise are all false.”

Byron and Cabot, per a report by Axios, have both been sent on leave pending further investigation by the company. Whether or not they will be ousted from their offices permanently is yet to be seen.

The drama continues to play out, with the internet still abuzz with discussions about professional ethics, workplace etiquette, and the consequences of public transgressions.
