A musical surprise stunned fans when Chris Hemsworth joined Ed Sheeran on stage in Bucharest, Romania, during a 2025 concert. The Hollywood actor traded his Thor hammer for drumsticks, performing live in front of 70,000 people. Though it came naturally for Sheeran, the moment was a big challenge for Hemsworth, who had no prior experience with drums.

Surprise Cameo Revealed in Hemsworth's New Docuseries

The unexpected performance only came to light after the release of the trailer for Hemsworth’s upcoming docuseries, Limitless: Live Better Now, on July 17. Directed by Kit Lynch‑Robinson, the series follows Hemsworth’s journey of pushing his mind and body to new limits.

One part of the show dives into Hemsworth's intense preparation to play drums on stage. Viewers will see how seriously he trained for the concert and how tough it was for him to master the instrument.

“You Should Learn Drums,” Says Sheeran

In the trailer, Ed Sheeran is seen walking through a field with Hemsworth and encouraging him, “You should learn the drums to play a song with me on my stadium tour." Soon after, the footage cuts to Hemsworth rehearsing tirelessly. He trains with Ben Gordon, the drum coach from the Australian metalcore band Parkway Drive. Although Hemsworth openly admits, “I’m struggling,” he refuses to give up.

Sheeran Applauds Hemsworth’s Grit

Seeing his determination, Sheeran praises him, saying, “I think this actually might be the most difficult thing you do." Eventually, Hemsworth pulls off the performance, earning loud cheers from the huge crowd. To celebrate the moment, Sheeran hands him a funny trophy labeled ‘Participation Award for Drumming Excellence’.

Extreme Challenges in ‘Limitless: Live Better Now’

The docuseries doesn't just feature drumming. Over three episodes, Hemsworth takes on extreme physical and mental challenges. He goes through Special Forces training in South Korea, climbs a 600-foot vertical wall in the Swiss Alps, and collaborates with MMA fighters, brain scientists, and doctors.

These experiences aim to boost his brain health, focus, memory, and mental toughness. In the trailer, Hemsworth explains, “The key to unlocking these benefits for all of us is finding the edge of our comfort zone." Limitless: Live Better Now will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu starting August 15.
