About Avatar: Fire and Ash

James Cameron's Avatar franchise was kicked off by Avatar (2009). Upon the ground-breaking success of the 2009 movie, Cameron decided to continue the franchise, planning a series of sequels. Initially planned to be released in the following years, the movies faced constant delays.

Avatar 3, now Avatar: Fire and Ash, was initially slated for a 2015 release. However, the production delays resulted in a decade-long delay in its release. Contrary to initial reports, the sequel to the blockbuster epic science fiction movie was released 13 years later, in the form of 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water.

Now, after its own set of delays, James Cameron's third Avatar is inching closer to release. At the moment, the movie is slated for a December 19th release with Avatar 4 and 5 also confirmed to be in the works.
