Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty has given her statement to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged ₹60 crore fraud case.

An official from Mumbai Police confirmed that Shilpa was questioned for nearly four and a half hours, and her full statement has been officially recorded.

What Is the ₹60 Crore Fraud Case Involving Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra?

Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty has found herself under police scrutiny after being questioned by the Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The case involves an alleged ₹60 crore financial fraud, in which her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, is also an accused.

According to officials, the investigation is centered around a business dispute in which funds meant for expansion were allegedly misused between 2015 and 2023.

Shilpa Shetty Questioned at Her Mumbai Residence

A senior EOW officer confirmed that Shilpa Shetty was questioned for nearly 4.5 hours at her Mumbai residence. Her official statement was recorded during the inquiry.

Police sources said Shilpa provided details regarding transactions made through her advertising company’s bank account. She also submitted relevant documents to support her claims, which are currently being verified by the investigators.

What Did Shilpa Shetty’s Husband Raj Kundra Say?

Earlier in September 2025, the EOW had recorded Raj Kundra’s statement in the same case. Mumbai Police stated, “Investigations are going on against actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra in an alleged fraud case of ₹60 crore.”

Kundra was reportedly summoned by the EOW and appeared for questioning. His statement was recorded, and he is expected to be called again for a second round of interrogation next week.

Who Filed the Complaint Against the Couple?

The complaint was filed by businessman Deepak Kothari, who accused Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra of cheating him of ₹60 crore. He claimed that the money he invested for business expansion was instead used by the couple for personal expenditures.

Raj Kundra’s Explanation on the Money Trail

During his questioning, Raj Kundra allegedly told investigators that a part of the ₹60 crore was used to pay actresses Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia as professional fees.

However, sources said that Kundra did not provide clear answers on some key financial transactions, prompting the EOW to conduct further questioning.

 Traces of Other Transactions Found

According to reports, the investigation revealed that money from the company’s accounts had been transferred to the accounts of four actresses, including Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu, and Neha Dhupia. Additionally, some funds were also linked to Balaji Entertainment.

Latest Update on the Case

As of now, Mumbai Police continues to verify the documents submitted by Shilpa Shetty. Raj Kundra is likely to be summoned again next week for additional questioning. The EOW is also tracking money trails to confirm whether the funds were misused for personal gains.

No arrests have been made yet, but sources indicate that the investigation may soon expand to include financial auditors and company associates.
