Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan, introduces a democracy-themed twist titled ‘Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar’, giving housemates full decision-making power, promising drama and consequences.
Bigg Boss 19: Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is back to host the 19th season of Indian television’s popular reality series, Bigg Boss. The newly released trailer teases an all-new concept, drawing attention with the theme of ‘democracy’.
JioHotstar unveiled the trailer on Thursday, showcasing Salman Khan dressed as a politician, hinting at a power-packed season ahead. The set design appears to take inspiration from the Indian Parliament, setting the stage for this season’s bold new theme: Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar.

In the video, Salman declares, "Aisa pehli baar hua 18-19 saalon mein (This has happened for the first time in 18–19 years). This time, Bigg Boss won’t be about crazy drama, but about democracy. Every small and big decision will be in the hands of the housemates. So housemates, do whatever you want to do, man, but be ready for the consequences and the public, because this time in Bigg Boss, it's the Gharwaalon ki Sarkaar (housemates' government)."
The upcoming season will feature a democratic twist, where contestants will be granted the power to take all crucial decisions inside the house. This dynamic shift is expected to stir up fresh drama and strategy.

Speaking about the new direction, Salman Khan added, "Bigg Boss' every season is different, but this time, the tables have turned. ‘Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar’ ka matlab hai power unke haath mein aur jab power milti hai, toh asli chehre saamne aate hain. Is baar contestants ko apne decisions lene ka poora haq diya gaya hai, par har decision ke saath ek consequence bhi aata hai. Main hamesha kehta hoon, tameez se khelo, par yeh log tameez chhod ke drama le aate hain."
He further teased, "This season, they’ll try to run the house their way, but when things go out of control, you know who’s coming back to set the record straight!"

The full list of contestants is yet to be released but some names have stirred controversy. For instance, Priyanka Jagga, known for her controversial stunt in Bigg Boss 10, claims to return this season. Reportedly, other celebs such as Ram Kapoor, Apoorva Mukhija and Dheeraj Dhoopar are also in the talks to join the show.
Bigg Boss 19 will premiere on August 24, streaming at 9 PM on JioHotstar and airing at 10:30 PM on Colors TV.
