War 2 OTT Release Date & Platform: The sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe movie is now available to watch for the OTT audience. The Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR starrer that premiered in theatres on August 14th has been highly anticipated on streaming platforms.
The Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR action thriller released in theatres close to Independence Day 2025. Directed by Ayaan Mukherjee, the movie received mixed reviews from fans and critics, with overall reviews rating it as an average watch in theatres. Now, after close to two months of its theatrical release, the movie has been released on Netflix.
Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR fans can now enjoy the movie with a Netflix subscription. The movie officially hit the streaming platform on 09th October, Thursday.
Upon release, the movie was met with mixed to negative reviews, with fans calling the movie an average watch at the theatres. Most reviews praised the movie's production and action sequences, with most of the criticism aimed at the story. Fans praised Hrithik Roshan's performance in the movie, with Jr. NTR fans also cheering for their favourite star's exciting performance as the movie's antagonist.
Major criticism for the movie was directed towards were aimed at the film's storyline. Many fans felt the story to be formulaic and predictable, leading to a visually stunning theatrical experience that lacks any depth in terms of its story.
War 2 is the sixth instalment in the YRF spy universe and a sequel to War (2019) starring Hrithik alongside Tiger Shroff. The movie is directed by Ayan Mukerji, who replaced Siddharth Anand, the director of the original movie.
In terms of box office performance, War 2 failed to match the success of the 2019 movie, despite the inclusion of bigger stars and a larger scale. The sequel was marketed to a pan-India audience and had a reported ₹400 crore budget.
The Hrithik Roshan starrer, which had all the cards in its favour with the addition of an Independence Day release, ended its box office run with a worldwide total of ₹364.35 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. It not only failed to live up to the success of the original but also lost money during its theatrical run.
Despite being an underperformer in terms of box office collection, the movie has been highly anticipated by the OTT audience, partly due to the value it offers for the price. After nearly a two-month wait, fans can finally watch War 2 on Netflix from October 9th.
