The wait for the highly anticipated Hrithik Roshan release is finally over. War 2, starring Roshan alongside Jr NTR, has graced the silver screens. Directed by Ayan Mukerji as a sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, the film also stars Kiara Advani as the female lead of the film.

War 2, Starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR Released in Theatres

Ever since its announcement, War 2 has been a highly anticipated film, especially after the success of the first movie back in 2019. Hrithik Roshan reprises his role in the sequel as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, with Jr. NTR playing the opposite lead in his Hindi film debut. Also starring in the movie are Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor.

The story of the movie revolves around Kabir Dhaliwal (Hrithik Roshan), a rogue agent who has turned on his nation. To neutralise this threat, officials call in Special Units Officer Vikram for help. Vikram, an elite officer who also shares history with Kabir, is tasked with handling Kabir. Motivated by personal reasons, Vikram grabs a hold of Kabir, and who comes on top in their inevitable face-off is the driving force of the story.

War 2 X Reviews

The film was officially released this morning, with fans flooding theatres to see the two stars face off on the silver screen. As the first show of the Ayan Mukerji movie concluded, fans took to their social media to share their review of the film. Most of the reviews shared online are not in favour of the movie, with fans calling it a disappointment and criticising its story and VFX. Other criticisms of the movie are the wasted potential of the cast members, especially Jr. NTR.

A user on X shared his review of the film, calling it a waste of an opportunity and describing its story as a “template.”

“A rare North–South star combo wasted. NTR is utterly underused, the plot is template, action is bland, and execution is weak—leaving audiences walking out dissatisfied,” read the review.

Another user on the platform pointed out the unintentionally funny moments of the film, calling it “national level troll material.”

In a conversation with Viral Bollywood, a fan went into detail on why he did not like the film. He expressed his frustration with the film and said that Jr. NTR should choose better scripts if he wants to come to Mumbai; otherwise, stay in Hyderabad. He called War 2 a “garbage” and requested NTR not to spoil the goodwill he has built from starring in films like RRR.

As with everything nowadays, the internet is divided, and there are fans who had positive reviews for War 2. In one such review, a user wrote, “Opens new horizons for Spy Universe, nothing forced staying exceptionally true to story! Twists that keep you entertained to end and beyond. Action larger than life, scale grandest! Music surreal. Locations breathtaking. Entertainment to the core. Builds up.”

War 2 is mounted on an estimated budget of ₹400 crores and has already made ₹32.14 (approx) crores in bookings. How the Hrithik Roshan starrer performs in theatres over the coming weeks will dictate the final verdict on the film.
