Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari released in theatres on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The Shashank Khaitan movie clashed in theatres with Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to his 2022 blockbuster. Starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari is the story of how Sunny and Tulsi, played by Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor respectively, fake romance to win back their former lovers, who are about to get married.

Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari opened in theatres to a box office collection of ₹9.25 crore, according to reports published by Sacnilk. The movie observed a 34.08% overall occupancy rate on release day. Morning shows had a 14.77% occupancy rate, which jumped to 38.93% on the following day, peaking at 43.65% during the evening shows before dipping to 38.95% for its night shows.

The romantic comedy produced under the Dharma Productions banner is mounted on a rumoured ₹60 crore budget.

Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari vs Kantara Chapter 1: Uneven Box Office Fight

Both movies were released on Dussehra, but they cater to completely different groups of audiences. Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's romantic comedy is a light-hearted story that targets the family audience in Hindi-speaking regions. On the other hand, Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 is a mythological action thriller that features intense action, targeting a more action-oriented audience group. The movie is also mounted on a significantly bigger scale, releasing in multiple languages.

As a result, both movies also show a clear difference in their box office collection. On its first day, Kantara Chapter 1 minted ₹60 crore on its opening day. Whereas Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari did a business of ₹9.25 crore on release day.
