Over the years, Sunny Deol’s legendary line “dhai kilo ka haath” from the 1993 film Damini has become an inseparable part of his on-screen image. While fans celebrate the dialogue even today, the actor admitted in a recent interview with Zoom that he did not always enjoy the constant attention it brought.

Why Sunny Felt Irritated Initially

Sunny explained that at first, the popularity of the line began to bother him. He said, “Dhai kilo ka haath has become such a thing, initially, I used to get so irritated because jahan bhi jao, yeh dialogue bolo, ye dialogue bolo. I mean obviously, it’s a great pride, people are wanting all that, but vo kar kar ke fir aadmi todha sa bolta hai ki yahi aur bhi bahut kuch karna hai.”

According to him, while it was a matter of pride to have fans request the line, repeatedly being asked to deliver it made him feel that his work as an actor extended far beyond a single moment.

Why He Repeated It in His Film Jaat

Interestingly, Sunny recently revisited the dialogue in his film Jaat. On IMDb’s behind-the-scenes series, he admitted he was hesitant at first. “I was a little bit not so happy about it, to be very definite, but then I understood why it is required and why the director has conceived that particular dialogue to be there in that scene. It comes across very well, and now everybody is talking about it,” he said.

What’s Next for Sunny Deol

Looking ahead, Sunny is preparing for his next big project — Border 2. Directed by Anurag Singh and written by Nidhi Dutta, the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The much-awaited sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border will feature an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on 23 January 2026.
