As Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt revealed the details of their ten-year relationship, fans of the legendary Bollywood jodi were treated to a dose of unadulterated friendship. During a riotous appearance on the show Two Much, hosted by Twinkle Khanna and Kajol, the Badrinath Ki Dulhania stars traded playful barbs and revealed secrets that go far beyond their polished on-screen personas.
Known for his cheeky humour, Varun Dhawan didn’t hold back when given the chance to spill the beans on his co-star. He painted a picture of Alia that contrasts sharply with her usually composed public image.
Varun boldly declared that Alia has "cried on sets multiple times" and has even "screamed at people." But the most relatable and hilarious reason? Her hunger. "If she's hungry and you don't do a lunch break at the right time, she's got pissed off also," he confessed, sending the hosts into fits of laughter.
He certainly did. Recalling the shoot of the popular song Tamma Tamma from their film Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Varun revealed that Alia once broke down in tears because she mistakenly believed choreographer Bosco Martis was favouring Varun by taking more shots of him. “Alia, why are you denying it. You won a national award, right? You didn't get upset?” he teased.
In a moment that had everyone stunned, Alia didn't deny the allegations. Instead, with unexpected candor and context, she acknowledged them.
Confirming the Tamma Tamma incident, Alia explained the vulnerability behind the tears. "I was not getting the moment and I felt like I was not getting the right direction. Hence, I was vulnerable and feeling underconfident and that's why I cried." This glimpse into the pressure even A-list actors face added a layer of depth to the otherwise light-hearted banter.
Alia clarified that there’s only one person on set who bears the brunt of her ire: Varun Dhawan himself. "I have never screamed at anybody on set. I have screamed at you because you are very nudgy with me. You nudge me in the wrong direction and I feel like he really irks me," she said, highlighting their sibling-like dynamic. And what about the food-related meltdown? She owned that too, with the unforgettable line: "And yes, I did cry for food once when there was cheeseballs on the menu."
Since their first appearance in Student of the Year, Varun and Alia's lighthearted chemistry has been a big attraction for viewers. In the Dulhania series, their easy friendship solidified their place as one of Bollywood's most adored couples.
