Shah Rukh Khan National Award 2025 win has added a new chapter to the Bollywood superstar’s iconic career. On August 2, the actor received the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the 2023 blockbuster Jawan. This marks Khan’s first National Award in his 33-year career. While fans flooded social media with congratulations, one message from Congress MP Shashi Tharoor stood out—and Khan’s clever response stole the show.

Shah Rukh Khan responded in a way only he could. He thanked Tharoor on X (formerly Twitter) by saying: “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor... would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian... ha ha (sic).”

Directed by Atlee, Jawan features Shah Rukh Khan in dual roles—as a vigilante jailer named Azad and his soldier father. The film highlights corruption and injustice and was one of 2023’s biggest blockbusters.
The film also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles, with Deepika Padukone making a cameo as the younger Khan’s mother.
After the award announcement, Shah Rukh posted a video message. He appeared with his arm in a sling, in front of a bookshelf. He thanked the jury, the chairman, the I&B Ministry, and his 2023 directors—Raju Hirani, Siddharth Anand, and Atlee.
“To be honoured with the National Award is a moment I will cherish for a lifetime,” he said. He also praised Atlee and his team for trusting him with Jawan.
Khan described the honour as more than an achievement. He called it a “responsibility.”
“It tells me to keep going, keep working hard, keep creating and keep serving cinema,” he said. “In a world full of noise, to be heard—truly heard—is a blessing.”
