Bollywood actor Salman Khan and acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap are reportedly preparing for a surprising collaboration. According to a viral Reddit post, the duo is in early talks for a “dark, grounded action cop thriller.” Though official confirmation is still pending, the news has created a huge buzz in the film industry as the pairing seems quite unexpected.
The Reddit post claimed, “Salman Khan and Anurag Kashyap may work together (which was kind of shocking considering what Abhinav has been saying to media). Bobby Deol has suggested and is working as a mediator between the two. Bobby really respects Salman for helping in reviving his career and he also loved working with Anurag in Bandar which is said to be his best performance in the industry.”
The post added that the proposed film would mark a major shift for Salman Khan, known for his larger-than-life roles, as he explores a gritty, realistic action drama.
Abhinav Kashyap’s Harsh Remarks Against Salman Khan
The news of this possible collaboration comes amid ongoing tension between Salman Khan and Anurag’s brother, Abhinav Kashyap, who has been openly critical of the actor. Abhinav, who directed Dabangg (2010), recently made several bold claims about Salman in an interview with SCREEN.
He alleged, “Salman is never involved. He is not even interested in acting, and he hasn’t been since the last 25 years. He does a favour by turning up to work. He is more into the power of being a celebrity, but he is not interested in acting. He is a gunda (goon).”
Abhinav further described the actor as “ill-mannered” and “vindictive.” He added, “He (Salman Khan) is the father of the star system in Bollywood. He is from a film family which has been in the industry since 50 years. He continues the process. They are vindictive people. They control the whole process. If you don’t agree with them, they come after you.”
However, sources clarify that Abhinav and Anurag Kashyap do not share a close bond and have been estranged for years. Abhinav himself has publicly stated that the two brothers have no personal or professional connection.
Anurag Kashyap’s Past With Salman Khan
Interestingly, this is not the first time Anurag Kashyap and Salman Khan’s names have appeared together in headlines. Years ago, Kashyap revealed that he was initially set to direct Tere Naam (2003) but was removed from the project due to creative differences.
The filmmaker once said, “I got fired from a film because I asked the hero (Salman Khan) to grow chest hair. I wrote the film and after writing it, I was asked to leave Tere Naam.”
Explaining his reasoning, Kashyap added, “The film was based in Agra/Mathura. Have you ever seen people shaving their chest hair there? So yes, I was making Tere Naam.”

If the reports are true, the upcoming project could mark a fresh chapter for both Salman Khan and Anurag Kashyap.
