Bollywood has seen many newcomers rise from television before trying their luck in films and some leave a strong mark, while others fade away. One such actress gained fame through daily soaps, delivered a massive Bollywood hit, and even called out Ajay Devgn in public. Yet, after a few films, she disappeared from the big screen for years.

Who is this Actress?

The actress is Prachi Desai. She made her acting debut in 2006 with the show Kasamh Se, where her role as Bani Walia became an instant hit. She also made a cameo in Kasautii Zindagii Kay before moving toward Bollywood.

Bollywood success with Bol Bachchan

Prachi later starred in Rock On, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, and several other films. However, her biggest box office success came with Rohit Shetty’s 2012 action-comedy Bol Bachchan. Made on a budget of ₹65 crore, it grossed ₹175 crore worldwide, as per Sacnilk. The ensemble cast featured Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Neeraj Vora, Jeetu Verma, Govardhan Asrani, and Prachi herself.

When she called out Ajay Devgn

On the eighth anniversary of Bol Bachchan, Ajay Devgn shared a post on X. He only mentioned Amitabh Bachchan, who made a cameo, and wrote, “When the Bachchans speak, I listen (especially Amitji).” Prachi reacted by calling him out for not tagging the rest of the cast. She reminded him of contributions from Asin, Krushna Abhishek, Asrani, Neeraj Vohra, Jeetu Verma, and herself. Her bold response went viral.

Break from Bollywood and OTT return

After Rock On 2 in 2016, Prachi stepped away from films. For years, she stayed away from Bollywood projects. In 2021, she returned with the OTT thriller Silence: Can You Hear It. She later appeared in Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout in 2024. Despite her comeback, she remains mostly missing from mainstream Bollywood.
