Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie sees an impressive start to advance bookings in India, with strong ticket sales indicating high audience anticipation for the film.
After smashing records overseas, the advance booking for superstar Rajinikanth’s highly-anticipated gangster action thriller Coolie has taken off in India with a blockbuster start, reflecting the massive buzz around the film.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened its pre-sales in Kerala to an extraordinary response. Within hours, the film sold nearly 1 lakh tickets worth over Rs. 1 crore gross, and the numbers are climbing rapidly. Currently, the movie is selling about 50,000 tickets per hour on BookMyShow.
Trade analysts predict that once bookings open across India, Coolie could easily cross the 1 lakh tickets-per-hour mark. Early trends suggest the film may record one of the biggest openings ever in Kerala and possibly break multiple records for a Tamil release if the momentum continues.
The film’s global appeal is already evident. Overseas advance bookings have crossed Rs. 30 crore gross for opening day, with trade sources expecting Coolie to set a new record for a Tamil title internationally, potentially surpassing Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, which earned Rs. 66 crore on its opening day worldwide.
Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie features Rajinikanth in the lead, alongside an impressive ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and a special cameo by Aamir Khan. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander’s soundtrack has already taken social media by storm, adding to the film’s hype.
The movie is slated for a grand worldwide theatrical release on August 14. It will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
Coolie delivered one of the biggest openings in the history of Indian Cinema with both domestic and overseas booking.
