A motion poster for Paresh Rawal's upcoming film, 'The Taj Story', has generated a huge controversy online. The poster, posted by Rawal on social media on Monday, featured a photograph of a Lord Shiva idol apparently emerging from the dome of the Taj Mahal.

'The Taj Story' Poster Caused a Stir

The motion poster posted on Instagram very soon generated a lot of backlash online. The filmmakers are being blamed by people for going out of their way to propagate the ancient but unproven theory that the iconic Mughal structure was actually constructed on the grounds of an older Shiv temple.

The Taj Mahal, commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century, is usually included in arguments regarding its actual origin. But no solid evidence has supported these theories.

'The Taj Story' Makers: "Watch the Film..."

After the outcry and backlash about the poster, Paresh Rawal took down the initial post. He later posted a message from the production team of the film to reassure the public.

The producers, Swarnim Global Services Pvt. Ltd., released a disclaimer. They explained in clear terms that 'The Taj Story' is not concerned with religious matters, nor do they believe that there is a Shiv temple within the Taj Mahal. They put forth that the film deals with nothing but historical facts. They requested that people see the film first and then make their own judgment.

Paresh Rawal posted the disclaimer on X (previously Twitter) after a comment by Rachit Seth, who accused the actor of being included in a propaganda film.
