Rumours exploded online after Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal postponed their wedding. Social media quickly turned the delay into a storm of speculation, with many claiming an alleged chat leak involving Mary D’Costa caused the disruption. As screenshots circulated widely, the issue grew bigger than expected.

Screenshots Go Viral and Spark Confusion

Several photos of alleged flirty chats between Palash and Mary spread across platforms. Many users claimed that Mary herself posted them on Reddit before the account was deleted. These screenshots soon became the centre of unverified claims and assumptions.

Amid this, some people also falsely identified Mary as a choreographer tied to the wedding celebrations.

D’Costa Issues Clarification on Instagram

Mary stepped forward to clear the air. She posted a detailed note on Instagram, denying any personal connection with Palash.

She wrote, “First, the exchange of chats happened between April 29th and May 30th 2025, so the contact lasted for only one month. I want to make it absolutely clear that I never met him and I never got involved with him in any way. People have been asking, ‘Why speak about this now?’ The truth is, I actually exposed him back in July, but no one really knew who he was at that time, so it went unnoticed.”

She said she only interacted with him online for a month and never met him in real life. She also stressed that online confusion created false identity claims.

Her post added, “There’s also been a lot of confusion about who I am. I want to clarify, I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with. I’m saying this because things are getting mixed up, and I don’t want people assuming the wrong things.”

Wedding Was Postponed After Health Emergencies

Smriti and Palash were set to marry on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra. Sangeet and Haldi ceremonies had already taken place at a resort.

But the wedding came to an abrupt halt after Smriti’s father was hospitalised due to a heart-related issue. Later, Palash was also admitted to a Mumbai hospital with exhaustion and stress.

These back-to-back health scares were said to be the main reason for postponing the ceremony.

Social Media Activity Fuels More Speculation

The rumour mill intensified when Smriti deleted all engagement and pre-wedding photos and videos from Instagram. Her teammates, including her close friend Jemimah Rodrigues, also removed all wedding-related posts.

This sudden digital silence made many believe something deeper was wrong.

Palash’s Cousin Defends Him Publicly

Trying to end the speculation, Palash’s cousin Neeti Tak shared a message online.

She wrote, “Palash is going through a critical condition today; you all should not judge Palash as wrong without knowing the truth.”

She added, “Technology today has come much ahead of humans, that is why people should not judge Palash in the face of rumours… pray for him.”

What Happens Next?

As of now, neither Smriti nor Palash has announced a new wedding date. Mary D’Costa insists she had no role in the controversy. Much of the chatter remains unverified, and the couple continues to deal with personal and health-related challenges.

The situation shows how quickly social media rumours can distort reality and affect people caught in the middle.
