Growing up in a film family often means being in the public eye from a very young age, long before understanding what fame truly entails. For many star kids, this constant exposure comes with relentless scrutiny from their wardrobe choices to their facial expressions, everything is subject to judgment. In the latest episode of Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle, actress Kajol opened up about the challenges her daughter Nysa Devgan faced with online trolling and the emotional impact it had.

Kajol on Protecting Her Children From Online Negativity

Kajol spoke candidly about how online criticism and paparazzi attention targeted Nysa even as a child. “I remember things like when Nysa was a kid, they were writing nonsense about her. There were so many photos of her as a child, and people would say mean and horrible things,” Kajol said. “But kids are kids they have bad haircuts sometimes, they run around in regular clothes and not designer airport looks. I remember Nysa being really upset about it. Both my kids were.” The actress emphasized that such criticism can leave a lasting effect, particularly on young children who haven’t yet stepped into the industry.

Janhvi Kapoor on Sridevi’s Protectiveness and Social Media Pressure

Joining the conversation, Janhvi Kapoor shared her own experience growing up as Sridevi’s daughter. She explained how protective her late mother was and how she hesitated to let Janhvi enter the limelight. “Mom and dad were very innocent in their perception of what media and social media would become. We were giving everyone so much access,” Janhvi said. “She didn’t want me to become an actress. She’d say, ‘It’s fine if people see her with body hair and two chotis and a moustache.’”

Janhvi described her teenage years as particularly challenging due to the rise of social media. “Suddenly, all of India had this microphone to pass judgment. It was overwhelming so many things happening at once and so much scrutiny,” she admitted. She also shared how she now copes with trolling using humor, “I troll myself too! During a match we attended for promotions, I was reacting to random things nothing was happening on the field! Later, I commented, ‘I’ll have to cut 50 rupees, as I overacted.’”

Twinkle Khanna on Handling Trolling as a Parent

Co-host Twinkle Khanna added that while she personally doesn’t face much online trolling, she finds it upsetting when her children are targeted. “You don’t really care about what people say about you, but when they attack your kids, it’s very sad,” she said.

Kajol on Nysa’s Future in Films

Addressing questions about whether Nysa might follow her parents into films, Kajol clarified that her daughter currently has no plans to do so. At a News18 event, she offered advice for aspiring newcomers, “Don’t take advice from everyone. If you ask people what to do, a hundred will tell you to change your nose, your hair colour, or your hands.”

Kajol’s heartfelt reflections, along with insights from Janhvi and Twinkle, highlight the challenges of growing up in the public eye. Their experiences shed light on the pressures star kids face and the importance of protecting children from online negativity while navigating life under constant scrutiny.
