These messages involved supposedly unidentified vague footage of a coffin being dragged, with no definitive proof or confirmation of the actress’s identity. The rumours also spread further with false condolence messages and tribute posts circulating across the world, fans  from India and Sri Lanka.

How did the Rumour Spread

The false information cited a reported car crash, which in fact had left Kajal harmless fortunately and had been largely shared and re-shared by social media trolls and content creators seeking clicks and publicity. A few creators reshaped available clips and photos to create the fake story, leaving unsuspecting fans in the dark and generating emotional trauma. The false news trended within hours with a number of mainstream news sites being compelled to release clarifications to spread the panic.

The Response from the Actress

Acting quickly on their worry-wave, Kajal Agarwal took to her Instagram posts and stories to make it clear that the rumours were completely false. Her statement declared, “I came across some unsubstantiated news stating that I met an accident and do not exist anymore. To be honest, it’s quite funny as it’s not true. By God’s grace, I am absolutely fine, safe and doing very well.”. I ask you kindly not to believe or spread such fake news. Let’s maintain focus on positivity and truth instead.
