Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma Kapoor’s children, informed the Delhi High Court that, as per the matrimonial decree, Sunjay Kapur was responsible for covering all expenses of the children. He added that the children’s estate is currently handled by Priya Kapur, and any decisions regarding it are now up to her.

During the hearing, Justice Jyoti Singh cautioned both sides and remarked, “I don’t want this hearing to be melodramatic,” according to a report by Bar and Bench.

Priya Kapur Disputes Allegation of Unpaid School Fees

Jethmalani claimed in court that the two-month fee of one of Karisma’s children studying in the US had not been paid.
However, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, firmly denied this and asserted that all expenses raised by the children had already been cleared. He argued that the only reason this issue was brought up was because it “should come in the newspaper.”

Justice Singh then directed senior advocate Shyel Trehan, also appearing for Priya Kapur, to ensure such minor disputes are not brought before the court again. Reiterating her stance, Justice Singh said, “I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds on this. This question should not come to my court again. I don’t want this hearing to be melodramatic.”

What Is the Dispute About Sunjay Kapur Property?

The court was hearing submissions linked to an interim injunction sought by Karisma Kapoor’s children, who want to prevent Priya Kapur from selling or transferring the assets of their late father, Sunjay Kapur.

The main lawsuit filed by Samaira and Kiaan accuses Priya Kapur of forging Sunjay’s will to get full control over his property.
The High Court has scheduled the next round of arguments for the coming week.

Background: Sunjay Kapur’s Death and Estate Dispute

Sunjay Kapur passed away in June this year after suffering a heart attack while playing polo in London. His children, Samaira and Kiaan, have approached the court seeking what they believe is their rightful share in their late father’s estate, which they value at ₹30,000 crore.
