
Deepika Padukone shifts focus from acting to producing in the Hindi remake of ‘The Intern’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan (Social Media)
Four years ago, Deepika Padukone announced her plans to make and star in the Hindi remake of the internationally acclaimed comedy-drama, The Intern, which originally starred Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
The film was much awaited as it was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Deepika's Ka Productions and Sunir Kheterpal.
Amitabh Bachchan was cast to fill the shoes of Rishi Kapoor, who died before he was replaced in the film. But for now, interest has shifted away to the plight of the project after years of silence and some delays.
Last updates indicate that Deepika Padukone has now decided to step out of the main acting role but continue to be the producer of the movie. An insider told Mid-Day that Deepika is going to supervise the creative and logistical reboot of the film while concentrating on the search for a new leading lady for the project.

Disruption occurred because of continued shooting schedules being disturbed since the occurrence of the pandemic.
