India celebrated its 79th Independence Day with patriotism and excitement as the first poster of the highly anticipated action war film, Border 2, was unveiled. Actor Sunny Deol shared the poster on Instagram, showing himself in a soldier uniform holding a bazooka and shouting as if leading the fight. The poster confirmed a new release date, moving the film to January 22, 2026, to coincide with the extended Republic Day weekend. Fans are already thrilled by the patriotic imagery and powerful portrayal.
The poster shows an intense Sunny Deol aiming a bazooka at enemies. He stands in a soldier uniform, shouting as the battle unfolds while several soldiers hold the National Flag behind him, reminiscent of a famous photograph from the 1999 Kargil War. The background depicts an ongoing gunfight, creating a high-octane visual as well as Sunny Deol also added background music to the poster on Instagram, enhancing the dramatic effect.

Originally scheduled for January 23, 2026, the film will now release a day earlier on January 22, 2026. Sunny Deol wrote alongside the poster, "Hindustan ke liye ladenge....phir ek baar! #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026." The change aims to maximise the Republic Day weekend audience and build excitement.
Fans immediately expressed their excitement online. Comments included, "Goosebumps. This will be epic," and "Sunny Deol at its best. He looks superb. Poster is amazing." Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 features an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta. It is a sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 hit, Border, with Sunny Deol likely reprising his role from the original.

The original Border was written, produced, and directed by JP Dutta. It was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and focused on the Battle of Longewala. The film starred Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee. Border (1997) became one of the highest-grossing films of the year, earning ₹66 crore at the box office.
